QUALIFICATIONS:
• Registered Nurse, State of Illinois.
• BSN required
• Masters degree in Nursing or related field, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• National Certification preferred
• Strong clinical leadership and management experience required
• Minimum of 3 years experience in the Healthcare field.
• ACLS preferred.
• TNS or TNCC and PALS encouraged.
• Good human relation/communication skills, excellent judgment and critical thinking skills required.
• Must have good understanding of regulatory requirements, healthcare environment, patient/employee rights and related legal implications.
• Requires effective negotiation skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge/skills needed to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served and knowledge of principles of growth and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Director of ED/CCU has 24-hour responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the ED/CCU department.
• Has authority to make decisions in the areas of patient care, human resource, and financial management.
• Nursing activities in accordance with current standards of practice and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Duties include capital and operating budget development, policy development/revision, QI, personnel management, and staff development.
• Accountable for coordinating and directing Nursing activities in accordance with current standards of practice and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in hospital committee activity as needed and serves as a liaison between the ED and other hospital departments and physicians.
