On Monday, May 9th, Kewanee Hospital will kick off National Hospital Week by partnering with the American Cancer Society to host “Ladies’ Night Out.” This free event will include hot stone massages, mini manicures, blood pressure screens, Biodex balance screens, and a mini golf clinic with Titelist-Certified Golf Fitness Instructor Amanda Kocis. Refreshments, health care discount vouchers, Relay for Life information, American Cancer Society literature and resources, and door prizes will also be available.
Women will also have the opportunity to receive their yearly screening mammogram at a discounted price that evening. Mammograms will be done using the same state-of-the-art digital mammography machine and the same Radiologists as the Susan G. Komen Center in Peoria. If it is not yet time for your screening mammogram, discount vouchers will be presented for use at a later date. Mammograms will be billed to women’s insurance companies at a discounted rate. However, insurance standards still apply and it is the responsibility of the patient to make sure the date meets those requirements.
At 6:00 p.m., Melinda Shimmin, Family Nurse Practitioner in Kewanee Hospital’s Family Health Clinic, will present a program on women’s health, “Taking Care of Beautiful YOU!” The program will take place in the East/West Conference Room.
On Tuesday, May 10th and Thursday, May 12th from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. free community cholesterol screens will be offered in the Hospital’s main lobby by the KH Lab Staff. Participants must fast 14 hours prior to the blood test. On Wednesday, May 11th, free blood pressure screens will be offered in the lobby by the Cardiopulmonary Services staff from 8:00-10:00 a.m.
Community members are encouraged to join hospital staff for 15-minute walking groups during the lunch hour on Thursday, May 12th. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., walking groups will depart from the Rehabilitation Services Department and will walk around the KH parking lot. Please join in at your convenience.
On Friday, May 13th, the Radiology Department will have an informational booth available in the lobby from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., offering discount vouchers for healthcare services as well as a display of new imaging equipment.
