The Annual Support Committee of Kewanee Hospital’s Development Council recently met at the home of Gailyn and Bob Johnson in downtown Kewanee to kick-off the year-end appeal/annual giving campaign. Earlier in the year, the committee members determined that funds raised during the appeal would be used to purchase the Nu-Step T5XR, a recumbent elliptical, for the Rehabilitation Services department.
The Nu-Step T5XRwill meet the needs of a variety of patients, including athletes, fitness enthusiasts, active seniors, physical/occupational therapy patients and beginning or overweight exercisers. The cost of the recumbent elliptical is $6,335.
“The recumbent elliptical is an extremely versatile piece of equipment can be used by everyone, regardless of age or level of function,” stated Lori Christiansen, Director of Rehabilitation Services at Kewanee Hospital. “From the elite athlete and ‘workout warrior’ to the disabled or deconditioned rehab patient, it offers safe, effective and adaptive exercise.”
Requests for donations were sent to those who have supported previous Hospital projects and individuals who have benefited from community-based programs. Individuals contributing annual gifts of $100 or more are recognized through membership in the Cornerstone Club on the Hospital’s Donor Wall of Honor. Over 200 community members and Hospital employees are currently members of the Cornerstone Club.
“To date, we have already received $5,685 toward the purchase of the new elliptical,” stated Kristin Keane, Director of Marketing and Development at Kewanee Hospital. “The immediate outpouring of contributions is indicative of the value of this project and of our community’s Hospital.”
The Annual Support Committee is chaired by Roger Hawk. Committee members and guests in attendance at the recent event included Bob & Gailyn Johnson, Mary and Roger Hawk, Denny and RoseMary Rewerts, Dick and MaryJo Rouse, Kendra Austin, Jeremy & Danielle Johnson, Diane Graves, Lamont and Barb Webster, Kristin Keane, Sam Harker, Lynn Fulton, Margaret Gustafson, and Lori Christiansen. A variety of Wisconsin cheeses were donated and shipped to Kewanee by out-of-state Cornerstone Club members Ken and Bonnie Dison.
Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible contribution to help purchase the recumbent elliptical can mail their gift to Kewanee Hospital, Attn: Marketing & Development, Box 747, Kewanee IL 61443
