Kewanee Hospital is pleased to congratulate Miranda Clark of Kirkwood, Illinois on receiving the 2012 Medical Staff Healthcare Scholarship. Clark attends Western Illinois University with a goal of providing quality speech-language services in the rural areas of West Central Illinois, in a school or medical setting. Clark is currently enrolled in five courses plus a clinical practicum and diagnostic practicum at the graduate level.
Clark is a graduate of West Central High School in Biggsville, Illinois; Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois; and Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. She has attended and presented at several state and national conferences including the National Council of Undergraduate Research Conference, the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference, and the Illinois Speech-Language Hearing Association Conference.
“The Kewanee Hospital Medical staff chose to award these scholarships as a way to introduce our hospital and our community to future healthcare professionals,” stated Dan Congreve, MD, FACS, General Surgeon and Chief of Staff at Kewanee Hospital. “In turn, it is our hope that they may consider Kewanee Hospital as a future employer.”
To qualify for the Kewanee Hospital Medical Staff Healthcare Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Advanced Practice Nursing; an undergraduate program in Nursing, Radiology Technician, or Respiratory Therapy; or an allopathic or osteopathic Medical School. Three (3) one-year scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded per year. Each scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four (4) years, contingent upon the applicant filing a formal request for renewal and furnishing proof of academic achievement. A one page summary of the previous year’s activities will also be acquired.
