Kewanee Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services Department is pleased to announce the addition of a Sci-Fit Recumbent Elliptical machine! The new equipment meets the needs of a variety of patients, including athletes, fitness enthusiasts, active seniors, physical/occupational therapy patients and beginning or overweight exercisers.
“The recumbent elliptical is an extremely versatile piece of equipment that can be used by everyone, regardless of age or level of function,” stated Lori Christiansen, Director of Rehabilitation Services at Kewanee Hospital. “From the elite athlete and ‘workout warrior’ to the disabled or deconditioned rehab patient, it offers safe, effective and adaptive exercise.”
Last fall, the Hospital’s Annual Support Committee sent year-end appeal letters to past donors and community members who have benefited from community-based programs. Individuals who contributed $100 or more are recognized through membership in the Cornerstone Club on the Hospital’s Donor Wall of Honor.
“Over a span of just a few months, our generous donors contributed nearly $11,500, which more than covered the cost of the new elliptical,” stated Kristin Keane, Director of Marketing and Development at Kewanee Hospital. “The success of this project is truly indicative of our community’s support. We are so grateful!”
The Annual Support Committee is chaired by Roger Hawk. Committee members include Gailyn Johnson, Doug Parrott, Lisa Barnett, John Sayers, Denny Rewerts, Dick and MaryJo Rouse, Kendra Austin, Diane Graves, Lamont Webster, and Anita Blanks.
“I used this type of elliptical at a long-term care facility immediately following my surgery,” stated Judy Kopp, who recently had bilateral knee replacement. “When I came back home for rehabilitation at Kewanee Hospital, I was so relieved to find they had one too!”
